TWINSBURG, Ohio – The Cleveland Clinic today will break ground on its $96 million, 190,000-square-foot health and surgery center in this city 25 miles southeast of Cleveland, according to news reports.
WKYC reported that the facility will include a 24-hour emergency department and a helipad, which none of the Clinic’s other family health centers have. Slated to open in 2011, the center will be located at the intersection of Ohio 91 and Interstate 480 in Twinsburg.

Crain’s Cleveland Business said that the project was delayed for a year as the Clinic “wrangled” with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. The Clinic’s initial plans would have “severely affected natural wetlands and headwater streams” on the 86-acre site, Crain’s reported.
WKYC said the Clinic worked with the Ohio EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers to “preserve the natural habitat” and protect more than 37 acres.
The facility is expected to bring 300 jobs to Twinsburg, according to WKYC.
