MedCity Media executives, Chris Seper and Amanda Todorovich, have joined the advisory boards of newly established organizations Civic Commons and ShareWIK, respectively.
Seper, president and a founder of MedCity Media, joins Civic Commons in its mission to build conversations and connections that have the power to become informed, productive collective civic action.
The Civic Commons is a regional northeast Ohio nonprofit social enterprise that is building a civic engagement utility to serve the growing engagement needs of civic leaders/institutions through fee-based engagement services and the growing desire of citizens to be engaged and empowered on key civic decisions. The Civic Commons is a robust online engagement platform that combines social media, social networking, visualizations, and gaming components, complemented by more traditional means of media and civic engagement (e.g. newspapers, radio, public meetings, and grassroots organizing). The mission of the Civic Commons is to build conversations and connections that have the power to become informed, productive collective civic action.
“We are pleased to have Chris join the Board of Directors of the Civic Commons. His expertise with MedCity Media, entrepreneurial startups and evolving journalism will serve as great assets to ensure success for the Commons,” said Brian Frederick, President/CEO, Community Foundation of Lorain County.
Todorovich, MedCity’s vice president of business development and marketing, is on the advisory board of ShareWIK Media, a health and wellness media platform that combines the magic of personal storytelling with expert opinion. ShareWIK.com is an always smart, sometimes sassy social networking site where you can find health and wellness information that allows you to share your story and learn from the experience of others. ShareWIK literally means, “Share What I Know.” ShareWIK provides personal and intimate accounts of situations, conditions and experiences. We are a community, a safe place where you can be real, ask questions of our experts and other members and share what you’ve learned.
“There’s not many of us operating in the Wild Wild West of healthcare journalism cum new media space and Amanda’s expertise in forging new ideas to monetize content has been vital in helping us grow exponentially,” said Diana Keough, CEO, Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of ShareWIK Media. “I often say that having Amanda on our team is like having Lewis and Clark along with you.”
Seper and Todorovich have collectively grown MedCity Media from a two-person startup in Cleveland to an angel-funded new media company in three markets. The company, which publishes MedCityNews.com, serves the everyone’s-a-publisher world of modern media by providing organizations with a wide variety of custom health content products, as well as reusable health business content. It also offers access to a valuable audience of healthcare stakeholders through online platforms like MedCityNews.com.
In two years, the company has opened offices in three major medical hubs: Cleveland, Minnesota’s Twin Cities and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. In January, it closed an angel round with JumpStart Inc., Hatch Partners and other private investors providing the funding. Seper said the company is planning expansion into other geographic markets later this year.
