Insider trading: Former Nasdaq Managing Director Donald Johnson has pleaded guilty to one count of securities fraud. Johnson was charged for insider trading, illicit deals that the Securities and Exchange Commission said came from advance knowledge of corporate leadership changes, earnings reports and forecasts, and regulatory approvals of pharmaceutical products. The SEC said Johnson even placed illegal trades through his work computer. Over three years, Johnson obtained $755,000 in illegal profits. Companies Johnson traded in included United Therapeutics (NASDAQ:UTHR). Three of Johnson’s illegal trades were in stock for PPD (NYSE:PPDI), a Wilmington, North Carolina-based clinical research organization.
