MedCityNews.com obsessively follows innovation in healthcare. Now, we are going to recognize and honor medical excellence in annual awards we call “The Cities.”
The Cities will honor innovation, entrepreneurship and achievement from America’s elite medical cities. The medical industry has so many Silicon Valleys: places like Research Triangle Park, Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Cleveland and beyond. It’s easy for some of healthcare’s greatest contributors to go unnoticed. We’ll recognize these local superstars as the national innovators they are to our nationwide audience of healthcare stakeholders.
We’ll give The Cities awards in the coming months to individuals and organizations in Cleveland, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Research Triangle Park. We’ll present our first awards in Cleveland on Aug. 18 at our annual summer networking event. Winners will receive their awards from a representative of The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
The dates of other awards in Minnesota and North Carolina will be announced later this year.
From now on, MedCityNews.com will annually honor five categories in healthcare:
The Disruptor: For a company that made a major breakthrough in the last 12 months.
Healthcare Ally: To a service provider that demonstrated extraordinary service to healthcare.
Medical Mayor: Our person of the year award recognizing someone’s insight, vision and contribution to healthcare.
Startup of the Year: For a 3-year-old (or younger) medical company with a unique solution that has shown through a major accomplishment its high-impact potential to medicine.
The Paragon: An organization, company or institution that demonstrates national or global excellence.
Staff at MedCityNews.com will select the winners. But we’re seeking nominations from the medical industry.
We’re starting in Cleveland. So we encourage everyone to nominate their best picks for Cleveland’s Disruptors, Allies, Mayors, Startups of the Year and Paragons. We’ll stop taking nominations on Aug. 1.
Thank you for helping us honor the best in healthcare.
