The Food and Drug Administration announced Friday that it was expanding the approved use of Botox, the wrinkle-fighting injection, to also treat adults with an overactive bladder.

Apparently, when Botox is injected into the bladder muscle, it causes the muscle to relax. And that increases the storage capacity of the bladder thereby reducing the urge to frequently urinate as well as reducing episodes of incontinence.
Botox injections into the bladder can be administered using cystoscopy where the urologist can see the interior of the bladder while injecting the drug.
Two clinical trials have proved the efficacy of Botox, the FDA noted.
More women than men suffer from overactive bladders and my guess is that more women use Botox than men. I guess it will be like killing two birds with one stone.
