An infographic this week reports in exhaustive detail exactly how hospitals are using social media with a detailed state by state breakdown.
I have written about social media and it’s interesting to see the different ways hospitals are using it.Yes, there’s a certain amount of marketing, but there’s also patient education and human interest stories on YouTube. Occasionally patients make social media posts about their hospital experience. There is also some whimsy with singing and dancing. Facebook has also been a place for hospitals to interact with their community for better or for worse.
About 1,500 hospitals use social media in some format, according to the infographic. YouTube, Facebook and location check-in tool Foursquare are the runaway favorites. New York, Texas and Florida hospitals are the biggest social media users.
With the Rise of AI, What IP Disputes in Healthcare Are Likely to Emerge?
Munck Wilson Mandala Partner Greg Howison shared his perspective on some of the legal ramifications around AI, IP, connected devices and the data they generate, in response to emailed questions.
A survey accompanying the infographic by Master of Health Administration calls attention to the authority that social media posts by doctors, nurses and hospitals have with the public. About 60 percent of those surveyed said they trust doctors posts, 56 percent trust nurses posts, followed by hospitals at 55 percent and patient advocacy groups at 54 percent.
