In the drive to get providers to shift from paper-based patient medical records to electronic medical records, one thing that is frequently overlooked is that emergency service teams rely on paper-based records. Beyond Lucid Technologies wants to change that and has been rolling out software to help EMS groups convert from paper-based documents. Users can detail the patient’s condition and electronically transmit critical patient and incident data to hospitals en route. This week it has added the largest EMS company based in California — Pro Transport-1, according to a company statement.
The company has more than 120 vehicles out of 11 stations and serves 22 counties. Beyond Lucid Technologies’ software MEDIVIEW will initially be rolled out at the company’s Modesto area station in Hughson, in Northern California.
Health Executives on Digital Transformation in Healthcare
Hear executives from Quantum Health, Surescripts, EY, Clinical Architecture and Personify Health share their views on digital transformation in healthcare.
The system doesn’t depend on a network connection, a point it emphasizes for natural disasters like tornadoes and hurricanes. Its software also gives medics access to telemedicine capabilities.
Other startups have developed technologies to make EMS more efficient as well. Stat, a company that was part of DreamIt Health’s inaugural class, developed an app to reduce the amount of time it takes for ambulance teams to respond to non-emergency pick ups.
