Obviously not everyone in Texas is opposed to the Affordable Care Act and more people getting health insurance. It’s nice to see specific examples of Texans working to help their uninsured neighbors and co-workers understand healthcare reform. Two groups are getting the word out to patients through weekly videos and online resources, including a Google Hangout tomorrow.
The Texas Medical Association is running a “Hey, Doc” campaign to provide objective and nonpartisan answers to frequently asked questions about the new ACA health insurance marketplace.
TMA will provide pertinent, objective, and timely content each week on this website, to Texas physicians, and to the news media. Every Wednesday, TMA will post a new video featuring Board of Trustee Chair Carlos “Hey Doc” Cardenas, MD, answering your questions about the ACA. Send your questions to [email protected].
LiveStrong Foundation is focusing on a different group of people: cancer patients. The foundation is having a Google Hangout Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 1 pm Eastern time. The speakers for the #WhatTheHealth 101 event are:
- Doug Ulman CEO, LIVESTRONG Foundation
- Bryn Mooser Founder, RYOT.org
- Christina Postolowski Senior Policy Analyst, Young Invincibles
- Diem Brown MTV reality star, ovarian cancer survivor
The group also has an in-person or online class for cancer survivors to explain health insurance marketplaces. You can attend that from 6 – 8 Central time on Wednesday.
