MobilECG is a clinical-grade, 12-lead diagnostic ECG. The healthcare startup behind it has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $230,000 on Indiegogo. The funding for this medical device will go toward regulatory submission and manufacturer tooling. Plug it into to your USB port on your computer or tablet–no special installation or drivers necessary–and listen to the voice instructions. The patient can send the info straight to a physician, who can view the info in her web browser. The company plans to sell a wireless adapter separately.

And its price point? Less than $500.

MobilECG Labs, the startup, was founded only in February of this year and has plans to submit to the EU for a CE Mark and the FDA (presumably for clearance) by spring 2014. The company is so hopeful of its pending approval in both markets it’s offering pre-sales of the device for $299 as part of the campaign.

At the time of this post, the company’s raised more than $5,000 but still has a long way to go to reach its target. Unlike many healthcare startups, this one’s only collecting the funding if it raises the total ask.

Earlier this year, the FDA approved AliveCor’s mobile ECG for the iPhone.
