An Audax Health spokeswoman confirmed that UnitedHealth and Audax were granted approval by the FTC for early termination, an important step in significant merger and acquisition deals. The statement came in response to an emailed request for comment on news that UnitedHealth (NYSE: UHG) is acquiring the digital health company.
Katherine Kennedy Allen, Audax Director of Communications, said in the statement: “We can confirm that United Health and Audax applied for and received an HSR termination related to a possible acquisition transaction. However there is no definitive agreement and there is nothing to announce at this time. Beyond that, our company policy is not to comment on market or industry speculation. As with any and all proposed transactions or major agreements, our Board continually evaluates opportunities related to the company’s mission and growth objectives. We remain focused on building out our company and achieving our vision of being the most used consumer health platform by empowering consumers to manage their health through technology.”
As I reported yesterday, a Federal Trade Commission document obtained by MedCity News indicated that UnitedHealth is seeking to acquire Audax Health Solutions. Audax works with national health insurers, employer and provider groups to develop tools to help consumers to take a more active role in their own health.
