The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid today awarded consultancy Accenture a five-year, $563 million contract to carry on its work with Healthcare.gov, Modern Healthcare is reporting.

Accenture has already committed more than 500 employees to help the federal exchange operate more smoothly after a rocky roll out last year and to help with the current enrollment season that got underway in November.

Accenture worked to make the website more consumer-friendly and navigable, and so far, Healthcare.gov has signed up some 2.5 million enrollees through Dec. 15.
