Minnesota medtech startup Pursuit Vascular – maker of a preventative device for catheter-related bloodstream infections – just closed a $1.6 million debt round, according to a regulatory filing. The company raised another $1.6 million about a year ago, and has several other small fundraises since its launch.

Last April, it built a manufacturing facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota to produce the catheter. And in December 2013, the catheter was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration to be marketed, according to the company’s (woefully outdated and vague) site.

The company’s ClearGuard HD is a rod that kills infection-causing bacteria and fungus in hemodialysis catheters. These kidney disease patients are particularly prone to infection because such catheters are worn over long periods of time.
