Jon Stewart addresses allergy season: Every year, it really is the worst year ever

As usual, this year's allergy season is supposed to be worse than it has ever been before, according to the media hype. But Jon Stewart is skeptical about how this could be.

Spring has sprung, the trees have leaves, the flowers are in bloom and itchy eyes are commonplace.

Many people suffer from seasonal allergies, and the media takes this time each year to coin a new phrase to indicate how catastrophic the allergy season will be. Last year, it only made sense that we’d be dealing with a pollen vortex following the polar vortex.

This time, as The Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart points out with the help of multiple television news clips, we’re dealing with a “pollen tsunami” in what could be considered a “perfect storm” of allergens. Once again, this is the worst allergy season in years.

Stewart is skeptical about how it could be the worst every single year, and he calls out the media for going overboard with the hype. But not so fast. A spokesman for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America comes out in a lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck (courtesy of the wardrobe department, considering he’s not a doctor) and explains that the amount of pollen in the air is in fact increasing each year due to climate change.

Looks like we might as well stock up on eye drops and tissues for the time being. Without drastic changes to our lifestyles to end the problem of climate change, as Stewart puts it, we’ll all drown in our own snot.
