Comedian and actress Susie Essman spoke out on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore about the new drug, flibanserin, that is designed to increase a woman’s libido – what’s being referred to as the “female Viagra.”
In her opinion, this is a completely unnecessary and and unwanted drug. Not because her sexual desire is still in full force, but because she doesn’t want it anymore. She reflects back on all of the poor decisions she made back when sex was driving her behavior – the hangovers, the fake orgasms and the stalking ’90s Bill Pullman so she could hide in his closet as he slept.
She points out that this is being framed as a feminist issue, but a campaign for the approval of this drug called “Even the Score” is actually founded by Sprout Pharmaceuticals, the drug maker. Is this about sexual equality or pure marketing and profit?

Essman is met with applause when she adds, “I don’t want a pill that increases desire. I want a pill that increases satisfaction.”
The panel, including Kerry Coddett, Dr. Roshini Raj and Earthquake shared their thoughts on the pill and debate whether a lack of sexual desire should be considered a disorder and how this pill actually works.
