On Tuesday, Sir Tim Hunt told a conference in South Korea that the “trouble with girls” in science is that they might fall in love with male counterparts, they are distracting, and they can’t handle criticism without crying.
Since then, well-deserved backlash has spread, and the Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine in 2001 has resigned from his role at University College London.
Female scientists have taken to Twitter with the hashtag #distractinglysexy in response to Hunt’s ridiculous comments. Mashable gathered several – here are some of the best ones:
