MedCity INVEST is coming up next month. We’ve lined up a fantastic group of speakers for the two day conference in Chicago at the Ritz Carlton April 23-24.

The event will kick off with a panel discussion around the topic of Alexa and other voice-enabled technology in healthcare. Alyssa Jaffee, a vice president with 7Wire Ventures, will moderate the panel, which will include John Brownstein, Chief Innovation Officer with Boston Children’s Hospital, Kristi Ebong, senior vice president for GM Healthcare Providers for Orbita, and Tal Wenderow, CEO of Beyond Verbal.

Dr. Toby Cosgrove, an executive adviser to Google Cloud Healthcare and Life Sciences team and the former CEO of Cleveland Clinic, will share insights on areas of healthcare where technology can have a positive impact on outcomes, efficiency and cost.

Investment trends are a natural feature of the conference. One area the conference will explore is how health systems and payers are investing in health tech startups. Inova Director Richard Gordon, Echo Health Ventures Partner Jessica Zeaske, and Cleveland Clinic Ventures Partner Dr. Akhil Saklecha will take part in a panel discussion on the topic moderated by Canton Company CEO Don McDaniel.

Bakul Patel, Associate Center Director for Digital Health with the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health, will host a town hall-style discussion with audience questions about the regulator.

Esther Dyson, Executive Founder of Wellville, will highlight ways to lower healthcare costs by keeping people healthy through new business models that focus on substantial and long-term returns.

Consumerization in healthcare will also be part of the conversation and take the form of a debate on the merits of this trend between Dr. Sachin Jain, CareMore  Health CEO, and Dr. Stephen Klasko, CEO of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health. Lisa Suennen, managing director with Manatt Health, will moderate.

The evolution of medical devices to wireless instruments that can be used to remotely collect and transmit data will also be a topic of discussion.
