Patient Experience Week is April 25-29, 2022. Equiva, an innovator in patient engagement technology, recognizes this time to celebrate countless healthcare professionals who strive daily to improve patient experience.

Inspired by The Beryl Institute, this event provides a focused time for organizations to recognize patient experience accomplishments while honoring the people who impact patient experience every day. The organization’s website says: “From nurses and physicians, to support staff and executive professionals, to patients, families and communities served, the Institute hopes to bring together healthcare organizations across the globe to observe PX Week.”

“Equiva is pleased to support our customers in advancing their patient experience initiatives and innovation,” said Diana Crai, Equiva’s director of strategic deployments. “We’re especially humbled when we hear real-world stories about the ways our technologies improve care experiences for patients, their loved ones and members of the care team.“

With tens of thousands of interactions per day, Equiva’s health relationship management solutions have touched millions of lives across 800-plus customer deployments nationwide, Crai stated. Healthcare organizations use Equiva’s solutions to deliver targeted educational materials and health resources to inpatients, outpatients and individuals at home via devices such as bedside tablets, mobile apps, digital signage, kiosks and more, she said.

By supporting Patient Experience Week, healthcare organizations can express appreciation to employees and encourage continued efforts on behalf of patients. A list of resources to assist entities in planning Patient Experience Week activities is available here.

StationMD, a healthcare startup that uses telemedicine to deliver medical care to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including individuals with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy, has received new funding from Martin Ventures, in association with Adam Boehler, former director of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation. The goal is to keep  high-risk/high-cost populations out of the emergency room and hospitals, while cutting costs and improving health outcomes.

“Last year, StationMD doctors performed nearly 25,000 virtual consultations and resolved patients’ medical concerns 93 percent of the time, averting the need to travel to the ER or urgent care,” said Dr. Maulik Trivedi, a co-founding doctor at StationMD. “We have consistently found that our specialized telemedicine service provides people with [intellectual and developmental disabilities] better care at a fraction of the cost of going to the ER.”

A new telehealth bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives would make it possible for employers to provide separate telehealth plans to employees, in the same way that they currently offer separate dental, vision, and medical coverage. Called the Telehealth Benefit Expansion for Workers Act bill, it would also modify HIPAA and the Affordable Care Act so that all employers could benefit.

U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Indiana) led U.S. Reps. Suzan DelBene (D-Washington), Tim Walberg (R-Michigan), and Angie Craig (D-Minnesota) in introducing the bill.
