Physician Targeting Using Real-time Data: How PurpleLab’s Alerts Can Help

By leveraging real-time data that offers unprecedented insights into physician behavior and patient outcomes, companies can gain a competitive advantage with prescribers. PurpleLab®, a healthcare analytics platform with one of the largest medical and pharmaceutical claims databases in the United States, recently announced the launch of Alerts which translates complex information into actionable insights, empowering companies to identify the right physicians to target, determine the most effective marketing strategies and ultimately improve patient care.

The company has always provided care and support for LGBTQIA+ patients. Still, the expansion “helps us enhance our focus on the treatment of LGBTQIA+ patients to best accommodate the unique challenges many face,” said Dr. Sarah Oreck, co-founder and CEO of Mavida Health, in an email. “For instance, while we have always offered group therapy, we now offer group therapy specifically for LGBTQIA+ families who may be going through similar experiences so they can share their support for each other along the way.”

Oreck added that Mavida Health chose to expand its services for LGBTQIA+ patients because this population is in desperate need of more perinatal mental health support. LGBTQIA+ members are most at risk for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and experience worse pregnancy outcomes than heterosexual patients.

“As co-founders who have personally experienced the toll parenthood can have on your mental health, we know just how crucial it is to offer the support so many in this underserved community need. … We believe strongly that each and every parent deserves to be supported through the highs and lows of growing a family, no matter their gender identity or sexual orientation,” Oreck said.

The expansion of Mavida Health’s services comes at a time when the LGBTQIA+ population is increasingly facing challenges in building families, including a lack of access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy, as well as barriers to adoption and custody rights, Oreck noted. For example, just last week, New York City lawmakers called on the city to cover IVF for gay male employees because the current government healthcare plan excludes them from coverage.

Integrated Enrollment Platforms and Consumer Assistance Centers: The Strongest Advantage for State-Based Exchanges

In the ever-evolving landscape of state-based health insurance exchanges, the convergence of technology and customer service is reshaping how these exchanges operate. The increasing advent of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly dismantling the traditional business model that relies on the siloing of technology and customer service centers.

Ultimately, Mavida Health’s goal with these new offerings is to “help fill an industry gap of treatment that has widely left queer families vulnerable and lacking support,” Oreck said.

Other companies that support LGBTQIA+ patients include Folx Health and Included Health. Folx Health offers gender-affirming care, primary care, sexual and reproductive health, family building and mental health care. Included Health provides virtual and in-person urgent care, primary care, behavioral health and specialty care.
