Hires

Alkeus Pharmaceuticals welcomed industry veteran Michel Dahan as its new CEO. He joins the company as it prepares for the commercial launch of its lead asset, which is a potential first treatment for Stargardt disease.  

Bamboo Health added two executives to its leadership team. The digital health company appointed Erik Moore as chief technology officer and Nazir Rostom as CFO.

Cedars-Sinai announced that Peter Slavin is stepping into the CEO role in October. He served as president of Massachusetts General Hospital from 2003 to 2021.

Eyenuk, a company that makes technology for eye screenings, welcomed Bryan Haardt as its new CEO. In the past, he has held leadership positions at multiple healthcare companies, including Boehringer Ingelheim and Decisio Health.

Optum hired Benjamin Shobert as its new senior vice president of clinical data. He comes to Optum from Microsoft, where he served as chief alliance officer.

Providence named Erik Wexler as its next CEO. He will succeed Rod Hochman, who recently announced his plans to retire at the end of 2024. Wexler has worked at the health system for more than eight years, currently serving as chief operating officer.

Exits

Michigan Medicine CEO Marschall Runge announced that he will retire once his contract ends on June 30, 2025 following a 10-year tenure at the health system.

Pfizer Chief Scientific Officer Mikael Dolsten, who was a key leader behind the development of the drugmaker’s Covid-19 vaccine, announced that he is stepping down after more than 15 years at the company. Pfizer said the search for his successor is slated to last through early next year.

Promotions

Flare Capital Partners promoted Parth Desai to the role of partner. Before joining Flare in 2019, Desai worked as an investor at NewYork-Presbyterian Ventures and consultant at Deloitte.

Layoffs

AmeriHealth Caritas laid off 102 employees, which is 1% of its workforce of more than 9,000.

CommonSpirit Health is eliminating positions at hospitals in Tennessee and Oregon.

Kaiser Permanente laid off 51 IT employees in Pleasanton, California. 


Optum is laying off 524 workers in California.
