Hires

Aegis Ventures welcomed Murray Brozinsky as a partner. He previously served as CEO of Conversa Health, which was acquired by Amwell in 2021.

Mount Sinai Health System appointed Lisa Stump as chief digital information officer and dean for information technology. She will join the health system from Yale New Haven Health, where she worked for 11 years, serving most recently as chief information and digital transformation officer. 

Phagenesis welcomed Chad Hoskins as its new CEO. In the past, he has served in leadership roles at companies including Abbott, Axon Therapies and Outset Medical.

RhythmX AI hired Nathan Gnanasambandam as vice president of AI. He has previously held executive roles at companies including UnitedHealth Group and HealthPointe Solutions.

Verily welcomed Michael Radwin as its head of AI and data science. In the past, he has worked in leadership positions at Adobe, Yahoo and Intuit.

Wellth hired John Snyder as its new chief operating officer. He is the former CEO of Sanford Health Plan.

Promotions

Canvas Medical promoted Adam Farren to the role of CEO. The company’s founder and former CEO, Andrew Hines, had transitioned to the role of chief technology officer. Farren joined Canvas last year as chief operating officer. 

UChicago Medicine appointed Karen Habercoss as chief information security and privacy officer. She has worked at the health system since 2016, beginning as deputy privacy officer.

Unlearn.AI promoted Steve Herne to the CEO role. He joined the company in May as chief commercial officer.

Exits

Three Baystate Health executives are exiting the Massachusetts health system. Employees received a staff note stating that the following three leaders would be leaving: Chief Information and Digital Officer Kevin Conway, Chief Human Resources Officer Kristin Morales-Lemieux and Chief Quality Officer Doug Salvador.

Dana Farber Cancer Institute CEO Laurie Glimcher announced that she will step down from her role. Benjamin Levine Ebert, chair of the department of medical oncology at Dana-Farber, will succeed Glimcher.

Masimo’s founder and CEO, Joe Kiani, is stepping down following a proxy battle between the company and Politan Capital Management.

Texas Children’s CEO Mark Wallace is retiring after nearly 35 years in the role. Debra Sukin will take over as president and CEO on October 5. She joined the health system in January as president.

Layoffs

Charles River Laboratories is reducing its workforce by 3%, which means about 650 people will be laid off.

CarePoint Health filed a notice for more than 2,600 layoffs. The New Jersey health system is struggling financially and exploring different options on how to recover, so these layoffs aren’t yet finalized, a spokesperson has told media outlets.

Ellis Medicine in New York laid off 33 workers after shuttering its nursing home and rehabilitation center.

Kaiser Permanente is closing its last skilled nursing facility in the country, which will result in 249 job cuts.

Lifespan in Rhode Island laid off 20% of its executive team.

Optum is laying off 160 employees in New Jersey.
