WellTheory, a digital health company addressing autoimmune disease, launched a women’s health program on Tuesday to support those battling hormonal conditions like endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, postpartum, hypothyroidism and menopause.
Atherton, California-based WellTheory treats autoimmune conditions including Addison’s Disease, Celiac Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Lupus. It uses a collaborative care team model and works alongside patients’ physicians and specialists. WellTheory provides patients with a care plan to support habits around nutrition, stress, sleep and movement. It offers one-on-one video sessions and unlimited messaging with experts. It also uses diagnostics to help patients understand the root cause of their symptoms. The company serves employers and health plans.
The new women’s health program, meanwhile, aims to address the link between autoimmune disease and hormone imbalances. Through the program, patients receive hormone testing to measure sex hormones, cortisol levels and metabolites, and gain access to a care team. They also receive personalized educational programs and custom supplement protocols. In addition, they can have ongoing care through video calls, messaging and symptom tracking.

What Are Healthcare Organizations Getting Wrong about Email Security?
A new report by Paubox calls for healthcare IT leaders to dispose of outdated assumptions about email security and address the challenges of evolving cybersecurity threats.
The program comes as about 80% of those who battle an autoimmune condition in the U.S. are women. Research shows that hormones regulate immune system function, and disruptions in hormonal balance can both trigger and exacerbate autoimmune conditions.
“Hormonal imbalances play a significant role in autoimmune disease development and progression — especially during major life transitions like pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause,” said Ellen Rudolph, co-founder and CEO of WellTheory, in an email. “Despite this, traditional healthcare rarely addresses the connection between hormones and immune health. We launched this program for our enterprise partners to fill that critical gap and provide women with personalized, root-cause-driven care that treats the whole person — not just isolated symptoms.”
To measure the success of the program, WellTheory will follow patient-reported quality of life, clinical outcomes, improvements in workplace productivity and other metrics, she added.
The decision to create the women’s health program is deeply personal for Rudolph. Before she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, she was diagnosed with PCOS at age 25.
“No one ever explained that my hormonal imbalances could influence my immune system or increase my risk for autoimmune conditions,” she said. “I spent years navigating unexplained symptoms like chronic fatigue, brain fog, and severe monthly flare-ups without clear answers. It wasn’t until I learned about the critical link between hormones and the immune system that I got to the root cause of my symptoms — and my health began to improve.”
She added that WellTheory’s goal in launching the new program is to improve the “standard of care for women with hormonal and autoimmune conditions by providing personalized, root-cause-driven solutions that address the whole person.”
