MedCity Pivot Podcast: Embedding a New Data Safety Standard in Healthcare

We kick off our first season of the MedCity Pivot Podcast by discussing ways healthcare organizations can protect themselves from being targets of a cybersecurity attack. A new IEEE Standard can help.

Health data is a prime target of hackers given the value of healthcare data – in fact it is considered many times more valuable than financial data. Now, IEEE Standards Association has published IEEE 2933 establishing a framework grounded in TIPPSS (Trust, Identity, Privacy, Protection, Safety, Security) principles for clinical IoT data and device validation and interoperability.

MedCity News sat down with Florence Hudson, chair of the IEEE 2933 Standard Working Group to discuss why IEEE decided to release this framework and how healthcare organizations can best adopt it.
