MedCity News has long covered innovation in healthcare. We have also hosted events bringing together investors, startups and the healthcare ecosystem in a bid to connect those novel companies to capital.
This year, we are taking a different approach with a new event called Bullseye: Targeting Healthier Outcomes & Returns, July 23 in Chicago. It’s invitation-only and exclusively for healthcare investors and corporate business development leads.
As new technologies have emerged— especially digital tools and now AI — the traditional categories and silos of healthcare are gradually collapsing. What’s important now is not whether a biopharma VC knows the next promising company before the competition, but whether he or she knows the next novel diagnostic tool that can be a companion diagnostic or the next artificial intelligence tool that may be able to speed up drug discovery or manufacturing processes.
The lines are blurring not just between categories but across stages as well. Private equity companies are getting involved in deals earlier and earlier. Separately, American healthcare is seeing its own share of new investors and dealmakers from across the world. Established companies and their corporate business development teams are also looking for an edge by partnering with and/or buying novel startups.
Bullseye aims to get all these executives in the room. People you want to talk to. No startup pitches; no sudden ambushing in the hallway, whether or not you want to network. No early-bird deadlines. No discount toward tickets. Just a complimentary entrance if you fit the category of a full-time institutional investor or corporate business development leader in healthcare.
Just one day filled with interesting conversations and some relaxed networking and some healthy, fun competition – more on that below. After all, it’s summer in Chicago.
So if you are an executive from a venture capital firm, university endowment, family office, pension fund, private equity fund, sovereign wealth fund, or any other type of institutional investor focused on healthcare, we invite you to attend and join the waitlist for this boutique event.

- AJ Loiacono, CEO of Judi Health (formerly Capital Rx) who will be on a panel with Tanvi Patel, General Manager, Amazon Pharmacy about the evolution of pharmacy and reining in drug costs and others
- Matt Evans, managing director of healthcare at Monroe Capital, who will talk about financing options available for larger companies as he and Chris Garbadian, Xontogeny Chairman and CEO, discuss the landscape of investment and financing options.
- And of course, no summit in any sector is complete without a conversation on AI. Thus, Amy Raimundo, Managing Director, Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Carter Prince, Partner, CVS Health Ventures, Jo Natauri, Founder & Managing Partner, Invidia Capital Management, and last but not least, Shubhra Jain, Chief Business Officer, Hippocratic AI will talk about how to invest in AI wisely.
There will be multiple opportunities to network throughout the day and a dinner to close the event after the official programming ends. But in other healthcare events, it’s all work and no play, creating tons of dull Jacks and Jills. So we will have some healthy competition among a select number of attendees inspired by Family Feud and hosted by Lisa Suennen, Managing Partner.
