With concerns growing over childhood obesity, a Cleveland Clinic program focuses on healthier habits for the entire family.

The program is called Fit Youth and it is for children from 7 to 16 years old. It’s for young people who want to lose weight and their families.

The children and their families meet once a week for 12 weeks. The 90-minute session includes exercise, nutrition advice, and even the psychology behind why we eat when we are not hungry.

“This is our third week and we really enjoy it,” says Dawn Johnson, a mom in the program with her daughter.

Dawn says her family is now taking more walks, eating healthier foods, and skipping high fat fast food restaurants.

This is not about dieting, it is a lifestyle change.

A Deep-dive Into Specialty Pharma

A specialty drug is a class of prescription medications used to treat complex, chronic or rare medical conditions. Although this classification was originally intended to define the treatment of rare, also termed “orphan” diseases, affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the US, more recently, specialty drugs have emerged as the cornerstone of treatment for chronic and complex diseases such as cancer, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS.
