Cleveland Clinic chief information officer Dr. C. Martin Harris, one of the Clinic’s 50 greatest doctors ever, has joined Thermo Fisher Scientific’s board of directors.
The Clinic’s first-ever CIO, Harris has guided the health system into the world of electronic health records and helped it gain recognition as a national leader in the field of health information technology.
“Given his extensive healthcare and information technology expertise, as well as his strong track record of innovation, he will provide unique and valuable perspective to Thermo Fisher as we continue to execute our strategy for long-term growth,” said Jim Manzi, chairman of Thermo Fisher’s board, in a statement.

Harris is also a board member with home health products supplier Invacare and workforce education company HealthStream.
