AVIA, a Chicago-based accelerator and startup that helps providers select the best technologies, has raised $6 million from the recently-launched $150 million venture capital fund by Providence Health & Services and other investors.
In addition to the funding, AVIA, launched 18 months ago, said it has added a host of new health system partners, including: the Mayo Clinic, Sutter Health, Chicago’s NorthShore University Health System and South Carolina-based Greenville Health System. With those additions, AVIA’s network includes more than 70 hospitals.
AVIA was formed by two healthcare entrepreneurs, Eric Langshur and Ted Meisel. Its first members, University HealthSystem Consortium and HIMSS, have also agreed to remain with AVIA.
