Dr. John Martin is the Chief Medical Officer at Butterfly Network, a digital health company transforming care with handheld, whole-body ultrasound. Butterfly's mission is to democratize medical imaging and contribute to the aspiration of global health equity, making high-quality ultrasound affordable, easy-to-use, globally accessible and intelligently connected, with an emphasis on the 4.7 billion people around the world lacking access to ultrasound. Dr. Martin completed a residency in general surgery and vascular surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and he is board certified in vascular surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He served in the United States Air Force as a corpsman and then returned as a surgeon. Founder and President of the Heart Health Foundation and the award-winning Dare to CARE Program, he’s authored multiple peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, holds numerous patents and developed clinical software used across the country.
