Dr. Kevin Land is the Executive Medical Director of Biotherapies and Vice President of Clinical Services at Vitalant, supporting all hospital-facing clinical services, including Reference Lab and Transfusion Services, Biotherapies (Cellular Therapy and Cord Blood Manufacturing), Therapeutic Apheresis and HPC collections, HLA, Hematology & Coagulation, and product manufacturing for research. He is also the Medical Director for the flagship AABB and FACT accredited Cellular Therapy Laboratory in Tempe, Arizona.
Dr. Land is a Clinical Pathologist specializing in Cellular Therapy, Transfusion Medicine, and Informatics, focussing much of his career on policies to improve donor and patient outcomes and multi-center standardization. Dr. Land is very active at the national and international levels, having just finished working on the global harmonization of donor hemovigilance terminology. His current focus is on Biotherapies and is Chair of the Accreditation Provision Committee at AABB.
Blood centers are neutral partners, as they do not compete with hospitals for patients. Instead, they complement hospitals by providing a focused array of high-quality, specialized, patient-centric services, allowing hospitals to maintain primary relationships with patients and their families.
