At the ViVE event in Los Angeles last month, health tech executives shared how their companies are putting innovative ideas into action to address the most pressing needs in healthcare, as part of the Vibe at ViVE by MedCity News.
About 45% of patients have missed or forgotten to pay medical bills because of challenges they experienced in communicating with their provider, a survey from Artera found. Another 43% of patients said that these communication issues negatively affected their health.
Patient communications platform Artera teamed up with healthcare AI startup Hyro to launch a new chatbot-style assistant for providers’ websites. Using the information already available on the provider’s website, the chatbot can answer patients’ questions 24/7. Some sample questions include “What are the office hours for the radiology department?” and “Where do I park for my visit?”

While levels have gone down from their pandemic peak, burnout remains high among clinical support staff, according to a new report. It found that 70% of clinical support staff experience moderate to severe burnout, with 32% categorizing their burnout as high to severe. Along with the obvious effect it has on support staff’s wellbeing, burnout also negatively impacts patient care.

WebMD Provider Services struck a partnership with patient communication company Artera (formerly WELL Health) to expand access to patient educational content and medication affordability programs through texting.
