Lakewood Hospital appoints Judith Johnson as chief nursing officer

Lakewood Hospital has appointed longtime health care executive Judith Johnson as chief nursing officer.

LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Lakewood Hospital has appointed longtime health care executive Judith Johnson as chief nursing officer.

Johnson has served as the Cleveland Clinic hospital’s interim chief nursing officer for a year. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of patient care, as well as developing and implementing nursing strategies and policies for the delivery of quality patient care.

The Clinic’s objective is to ensure that a consistent level of care is delivered by all of its more than 11,000 nurses.

“Judy will be instrumental in helping the Cleveland Clinic Nursing Institute to achieve its strategic goals, particularly in the areas of patient care, satisfaction and outcomes,” said Sarah Sinclair, the Clinic’s executive chief nursing officer, in a Lakewood Hospital release. “She will bring the guidance and experience necessary to help the nurses at Lakewood Hospital to fulfill our vision to deliver the promise of world-class care.”

Prior to joining Lakewood Hospital, Johnson held several leadership positions including consultant, chief nurse executive, vice president and director of surgical/critical care nursing at Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania hospitals.

Lakewood Hospital has had some executive turnover in recent months. On Jan. 1, Fairview Hospital President Janice Murphy assumed the dual post of president of Lakewood Hospital, replacing Jack Gustin, who took on unspecified duties to support the West Side and Lorain County initiatives of Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals.
