Columbus ophthalmologist Dr. Charles Hickey is the new president of the Ohio State Medical Association, the state’s largest professional trade group for doctors.
Hickey’s term will last for one year. He spent the previous year as OSMA’s president-elect after having been voted into that position last year by the group’s members, according to a statement from OSMA.
Hickey has worked at Columbus Ophthalmology Associates since 2001. He’s also an assistant clinical professor in Ohio State University’s department of ophthalmology.

Dayton colon and rectal surgeon Dr. Deepak Kumar was voted into the president-elect post and is expected to succeed Hickey as OSMA’s president next year.
