The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton has raised $5.5 million and exceeded its fundraising goal for a recently completed pediatric emergency and trauma unit.
Dayton Children’s raised the money for the Soin Pediatric Trauma and Emergency Center from 184 donors and exceeded its initial goal of $5.3 million, according to a statement from the hospital.
The trauma and emergency center is named after the project’s lead donors, Raj and Indu Soin. The Soins founded Dayton-based Modern Technologies Corporation, an engineering and technology consulting firm.

Dayton Children’s launched the $8.5 million emergency and trauma unit renovation three years ago and recently completed it.
The project doubled the size of the hospital’s emergency unit, which has reduced patient wait times, according to the statement.
The increased capacity has helped Dayton Children’s increase its total emergency department visits by 21 percent over the last four years. The hospital recorded nearly 70,000 visits in its recently ended fiscal year.
