The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has expanded the definition of medical staff to include advanced practice nurses, physician assistants and pharmacists. CMS said the goal is to allow hospitals to explore new approaches to care by increasing the types of practitioners granted hospital privileges.

Gilead Sciences Inc. got good news about Truvada from the FDA last week as an FDA advisory committee voted 19-3 to approve the medication for men who have sex with men.
