I was skeptical last year when my boss told me I should go to Las Vegas for the International CES. This enormous event was a big deal when I worked for CNET Networks – but that made sense because CNET.com is all about gadgets.

Chris was right: health was everywhere. There was a whole day about fitness tech, the HapiFork was one of the most popular products on the show floor, and UnitedHealth had a huge, fancy booth.

This year the digital health footprint at CES is 40 percent bigger. A health-specific TechZone will showcase more than 65 exhibitors with solutions for diagnosing, monitoring and treating a variety of illnesses.

The Digital Health Summit and EveryDay Health have a contest that could get you and your company onto the show floor. Deadline to apply is Friday, Dec. 20.

Winners will be chosen by a combination of expert judges and popular votes. The top three finalists in each category will be invited to CES 2014. Finalists also will be able to exhibit their innovations at CES in the Digital Health Summit TechZone. This group also gets a pass to the Digital Health Summit.

There will be six category winners and one finalist will win an Audience Favorite prize. The categories are:

  1. Patient Diagnostics & Management: Participatory healthcare products or services that help patients manage chronic medical conditions at home, at work or on-the-go
  2. The Healthy Consumer: Products or services that consumers can use on their own to improve their everyday health and wellness, including wearable technology, health tracking apps and devices, at-home genetic testing, fitness optimization and more
  3. Emerging Tech: Cutting-edge technological and biotech advances that can dramatically change and improve the way consumers live, including the utilization of 3-D printing, enabling technology like eye tracking, or monitoring that is embedded into clothing
  4. Inclusive Innovation: Technology innovations serving the critical needs of consumers aged 50 and older
  5. Student Innovation: This category is open to any currently enrolled student for a technology innovation that can help improve health outcomes
  6. The Healthiest Company: Highlights an exemplary company that provides innovative health and wellness solutions to keep employees happy and healthy

The awards are open to individuals, companies, organizations, students, universities and government agencies. Entries will be judged on innovation, impact, implementation and individuality.

Finalists from each category will be announced on December 23, when online voting will open to the public. The winners will be announced live at a special event during the Digital Health Summit on January 9, 2014.
