The White House announced Thursday evening that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is resigning. Barack Obama will nominate Sylvia Burrell, director of the Office of Management and Budget in her stead. Sebelius claimed that sign-ups for Obamacare insurance had reached a critical milestone of 7.5 million only a couple of weeks after the end of the initial enrollment period.
The memory of the sputtering launch of HealthCare.gov and those marathon hearings are still fresh in most minds. But even as news of her resignation hit the wires, interpretations of her legacy are divided. As usual, Twitter offered a reflection of that division. Here were some of the more memorable tweets in support of Sebelius and at her expense.
A big part of Twitter traffic revolved around Ezra Klein of Vox with his story that Sebelius’ resignation could happen now that Obamacare had won.
