After the attention CB Insights got for its periodic tables for technology and healthcare, it has taken on the Internet of Things category and condenses the technology subsector into the most vital parts. It includes eight healthcare companies including the usual players like Proteus Digital Health and implantable glucose monitoring company Senseonics. It also spotlights venture capital firms that have been particularly active in this area alongside wearables companies and M&A targets.

Seeing as CB Insights is taking requests (it added healthcare and IoT to its periodic tables in response to many requests for it, I’d like to humbly offer a few suggestions myself.

Remote monitoring Alongside the companies receiving investment and making investments, it could include the companies that are supporting the monitoring — the kind with wall to wall screens and everyone has a headset.

The hybrids The convergence in healthcare between health IT, medical devices and pharmaceutical companies gets more interesting all the time, whether it’s a smartphone enabled diagnostic device or a smart pill for pharmaceutical companies. This table would aggregate some of the info from previous versions, but it would be even more visually dynamic. Companies could be split by color depending on the mix of categories they fall into.
