Recently, the Associated Press reported that HealthCare.gov was releasing personal data such as age, income, ZIP code, tobacco use and whether a woman is pregnant. This did not sit well with many people.

As a result, the Obama administration has officially made changes to the government’s health insurance website to scale back how much personal information is made available to companies that look at Internet statistics and advertisers.

At first the administration defended the current standing of privacy standards, but advocates and lawmakers became very vocal and demanded changes.

This is obviously unsettling for many people, and feels kind of creepy, but at least voices were heard and changes were made to a certain extent.
