Evidation Health uses deal with PokitDok to access claims data, license tech

In a collaboration with PokitDok, Evidation Health sees a useful partner to validate mobile health apps for clinical applications.

Evidation Health, a digital health company to validate clinical studies of digital health technology has partnered with PokitDok in a deal that will give it access to claims data and technologies developed by PokitDok, according to a company statement.

It’s part of an effort by Evidation to begin the chore of evaluating the massive number of digital health apps, relatively few of which have been submitted to the rigors of clinical validation. The idea is to develop a better way of helping payers and provides identify the best digital health tools for patients.

It’s the first announced collaboration since Evidation was formed from The Activity Exchange, a digital health startup with strong predictive analytics capabilities. The deal will help Evidation identify clinical study participants. After obtaining patient consent, it can use their claims data to evaluate digital health interventions, clinical and economic outcomes.

PokitDok works with major payers such as UnitedHealth, WellPoint, Aetna, Cigna, Humana and Kaiser, along with Medicare and Medicaid. Information will be transmitted through an API connected to Evidation’s technology and analytics platform.
