How many will lose health insurance subsidies if the Supreme Court rules against Obamacare?

An estimated 7.5 million people in 34 states are at risk for losing health insurance subsidies if the Supreme Court rules in favor of the plaintiffs in King v. Burwell this June.

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to make a decision in King v. Burwell next month. The lawsuit challenges the Affordable Care Act provision for the federal government providing tax credit subsidies in states that don’t operate their own health insurance exchanges.

Should the Supreme Court rule in favor of the plaintiffs, millions of Americans will no longer have health insurance subsidies. As a result, many low- and moderate-income people will not be able to afford insurance.

Huffington Post took data from the Department of Health and Human Services, Census Bureau and Gallup to assemble an interactive map that highlights the impact of ending the subsidies in each state.
