Entering Startup

On the cusp of kicking off its second cohort of health IT startups, Cedars-Sinai Accelerator, a collaboration with the Los Angeles-based health system and Techstars, named the eight startups taking part, whittled down from a pool of 650 applicants. Their ideas span from forecasting healthcare facility labor needs to a business to business platform for selling medical apparel.

Cedars-Sinai physicians and members of the administration act as mentors to the companies. The cohort companies receive$120,000 in seed funding to cultivate health-related ideas and inventions across artificial intelligence, mobile health, healthcare financing, and wearable devices among other digital health subsectors. The program culminates in a demo day on April 19.

Here’s a list of the companies taking part with descriptions taken from Cedars-Sinai Accelerator’s website and information from the participating companies’ websites, where available.

Cerebro Solutions is a Los Angeles-based company that works with healthcare organizations to manage clinicians and labor costs and also forecasts labor demands. Dante Tolbert is the CEO and Alice Jo is the CSO.
