Chris Seper (chris @ medcitynews.com) is is the vice president of healthcare for Breaking Media. In that capacity, he runs MedCityNews.com – a go-to source for the next great medical breakthroughs and insight on the business of innovation in healthcare.
Chris launched MedCity News and since then has been a trusted resource for what’s next in areas like healthcare technology, new drugs and medical devices. He’s been a speaker at conferences held by the likes of Cleveland Clinic and AARP. Plus, MedCity News hosts its own series of events on topics including innovation, healthcare investing and patient engagement.
Chris is a former journalist turned media entrepreneur who launched MedCity in December 2008. It was acquired by Breaking Media in January 2015. He sits on the advisory boards of Spoke Software and Your Teen Magazine.
Jane Levesque (jlevesque @ medcitynews.com) is director of content marketing at Breaking Media focused on healthcare. She works with hospitals and other clients who need content for websites, social media and print products. She assigns, organizes, schedules, edits and tracks multiple projects of various types through to completion.
Before joining the company in November of 2009, Jane worked as a staff writer for two newspapers and then as an editor and production manager for a small magazine publisher.
Ken Montgomery (kmontgomery @ medcitynews.com) is a business development manager at Breaking Media focused on MedCity News and its events. He helps drive sales in events, online advertising and content marketing services. He previously has experience in business to business sales and the healthcare industry.
Ken received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mount Union College.
Stephanie Baum (sbaum @ medcitynews.com) is the digital health editor at MedCity News, covering early-stage innovation in areas such as big data, mobile apps, telemedicine, sensors and other health technology sectors. She is based in Philadelphia.
Stephanie’s background includes working as a reporter for United Business Media in London and Dow Jones in New York where she helped cover the financial meltdown.
Dan Verel (dverel @ medcitynews.com) writes about how hospitals and health insurance companies are leveraging cutting-edge technologies to transform the industry – from telemedicine to analytics to healthcare social media. He is based in San Francisco.
Previously, he was a reporter at the North Bay Business Journal, where he covered healthcare, insurance, HR and employment, law and hospitality and tourism. His byline’s also appeared in the Oakland Tribune and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. He attended San Francisco State University and obtained a BA in journalism. He is based in San Francisco.
Meghana Keshavan (mkeshavan @ medcitynews.com) writes about early-stage innovation in the life sciences – from pharma to biotech to device to diagnostics. Previously, she spent a year-and-a-half writing about biotech and healthcare for the San Diego Business Journal and before that worked for Reuters, Crain’s Detroit Business, the Detroit Free Press and WDET, a Detroit-based National Public Radio affiliate. She is based in San Diego.
Meghana studied biochemistry and molecular biology at Penn State University and spent five years as a self-described “research peon in a schizophrenia genetics lab.”
Nicole Oran (noran @ medcitynews.com) earned her master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 2012 and has since worked as a freelance writer in both the music and healthcare industries.
She recently completed work as a ghostwriter for a book about leadership in the medical field.
Anita Tobin (atobin @ medcitynews.com) is a marketing associate with Breaking Media working closely with the MedCity News team.
She graduated from Ohio University with her Bachelor’s in African American Studies, Women’s Studies and Sociology. Presently, she serves as an Executive Member of the Hip Hop Congress National Board. Hip Hop Congress is a 501c3 organization dedicated to the education of Hip Hop Culture through building cultural awareness enhancing diversity.
