Ohio gets $19M in federal funds for health care job training
Four Ohio organizations will receive a total of $19 million in federal funding to train workers for jobs in the health care industry. The funding comes from last year’s federal stimulus act and will be distributed by the U.S. Department of Labor.

BioOhio starts 3-city career-fair tour Wednesday in Cleveland
The first event is at the Sheraton Independence Hotel in Cleveland and will feature at least eight different companies including Ben Venue Laboratories, which hopes to fill 30 to 40 manufacturing jobs. The other jobs fairs are in May in Cincinnati and the Columbus area.

Two trends helped give Ohio a seat at the bioscience leaders table last year: Big drug companies farmed out more of their research and manufacturing work — to contract research and manufacturing organizations in the state. The economic impact of Ohio-based bioscience is $148.2 billion, representing 15.7 percent of the state’s total economic output, according to BioOhio. Bioscience directly and indirectly generates 1.4 million jobs in Ohio.
