Cleveland Clinic has created the position of executive chief nursing officer and Sarah Sinclair, a nurse and administrator from Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, will fill the post.
The position will oversee chief nursing officers at the Clinic’s main campus and eight community hospitals. Sinclair will start in February.
The Clinic’s job description of executive chief nursing officer includes “spearheading efforts to establish evidence-based standards of care across the system, creating a work environment that enhances professional practice and providing opportunities for nursing staff and leaders to optimize their career growth.”
With the Rise of AI, What IP Disputes in Healthcare Are Likely to Emerge?
Munck Wilson Mandala Partner Greg Howison shared his perspective on some of the legal ramifications around AI, IP, connected devices and the data they generate, in response to emailed questions.
In Houston, Sinclair is the chief patient care officer, which is responsible for patient care, critical care services, organizational effectiveness, emergency services at Memorial Hermann, an 11-hospital health system serving the greater Houston area.
Sinclair led initiatives that resulted in a total annual savings of more than $12 million, according to the Clinic. She’s also been a bit of an opportunist when trying to fill Houston’s nursing shortage. Sinclair earlier this year led recruiters on several trips to New Jersey after they laid off healthcare staff and hired 30 nurses from New Jersey, according to Bloomberg (pdf).
