WARSAW, Indiana — Orthopediatrics, which develops implants and other therapies for children, is raising $6 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company creates a cast-removal tool, orthopedic nails and body plates especially for children. But in June it received a grant to work with Cleveland stem cell researchers to develop a way to release a certain amount drugs that orders cells to create cartilage (the company also relies heavily on a collection of pediatric skeletal data in Cleveland to develop new products).
The company in July raised $12.5 million, according to SEC filings. In August it received a $2 million grant from the state of Indiana to further develop its quiet cast technology.
