CLEVELAND, Ohio — MedCity News and WKYC-TV are partnering to provide comprehensive media coverage of the business of health care in Cleveland.  This partnership provides that WKYC, a long-time leader in broadcast consumer health news, and MedCity News, a next-generation medical industry news service, will join forces and share content both online and on-air.

“Medical news is extremely important to our viewer, and we have the best medical coverage in the market,” said Rita Andolsen, news director at WKYC.  “Teaming up with MedCity News strengthens our coverage by bringing our viewer more in-depth information about the issues that are important to them and their families.”

Chris Seper, co-founder of MedCity News, said: “WKYC is the breakthrough, forward-thinking media partner we’ve been looking for, and we’re excited to have earned its trust. We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings to the Cleveland media landscape.”

WKYC has a long history of providing cutting-edge health care news.  Monica Robins, news anchor and senior health correspondent, is an award-winning journalist with more than 11 years of health care reporting experience.

MedCity News, meanwhile, will add to WKYC’s coverage by providing its MedCity News Service, which covers the economics of health care in major “medical cities” and their states including Cleveland and Ohio.

“Monica’s expertise in consumer broadcast health is unprecedented,” Seper said. “Combining her reporting strength with our in-depth, analytical coverage of the health care industry allows both MedCity News and WKYC to present a powerhouse of medical journalism.

“This is also a watershed day for MedCity News,” Seper said. “In nine months, MedCity News has achieved its 12-month goals and is generating revenue from all three primary sources: our news service, custom content service and through MedCityNews.com.”
