At first blush, it would seem that Democrats should have little difficult overriding Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s veto of General Assistance Medical Care legislation, according to the Politics in Minnesota blog. But almost immediately after Pawlenty’s decision to veto the legislation was announced, House Minority Leader Kurt Zellers issued a statement promising Republican unanimity in backing the governor’s decision.

The Mayo Clinic has announced that it performed its first donation after cardiac death lung transplantation a year ag0, according to the online news site RT. Lung transplantation is a well-known therapy for patients with end-stage lung disease. As with other patients waiting for organs for transplantation, however, there are more recipients waiting than there are donors available.
The Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees named Carlson Companies chair Marilyn Carlson to replace former Netscape executive Jim Barksdale. The board also re-elected four public trustees: Roy Herberger Jr., Aulana Peters, Lee Raymond, and Anne Tatlock. Drs. Richard Ehman, Jack Leventhal, Robert Nesse, Dawn Milliner, Kerry Olsen along with Jeffrey Korsmo and Craig Smoldt, were re-elected as internal trustees.
