The University of Toledo and ProMedica Health System have forged a partnership in which the university will oversee and manage all academic endeavors across the health system.
The two organizations will collaborate on research and residency programs, according to a joint statement. The University will also provide administrative assistance in helping facilitate clinical research conducted at ProMedica.
“By expanding the clinical experiences of UT students under the guidance of ProMedica physicians, we are creating the next generation of leaders within the medical community,” said Dr. Jeffrey Gold, dean of the College of Medicine.

A newly created board made up of an equal number of representatives from both organizations will help manage the partnership.
ProMedica is a nonprofit that was formed in 1986. It operates 10 hospitals in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
