Sisters of Charity Health System has hired a former United Healthcare executive as its new chief medical officer.
Dr. Giesele Robinson Greene, a board-certified internist and geriatric specialist, takes over the role from Dr. Adnan Tahir, who is returning to Lebanon, according to a statement from Sisters of Charity. In the role, Greene’s responsibility will be advancing best practices in clinical care, quality and safety across the health system.
Greene has previously worked on the medical staff at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, one of the hospitals that belongs to Sisters of Charity Health System. She also worked as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University.

Earlier this year, Sisters of Charity regained sole ownership of St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland and Mercy Medical Center in Canton, after sharing 50 percent ownership of the two hospitals with Cleveland’s University Hospitals Case Medical Center under joint-venture agreements struck in 1999. St. John Medical Center in Westlake remains a joint venture of Sisters of Charity and UH.
Sisters of Charity also operates two hospitals in Columbia, South Carolina.
