The Minnesota Nurse’s Association, which launched one of the most closely watched nursing strikes in recent years, is hosting its annual conference this week with an Occupy Wall Street theme.
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 18 months since the nurse’s association launched what seemed like a national showdown on patient ratios and treatment of nurses (ending with mixed results).
Since then, the nurses have remained politically active while negotiating other contracts, and have been an active part of the national Main Street Contract For America, which considers itself a kindred spirit with the Occupy Wall Street protestors.

The annual conference is called “For the Good of Main Street.” Minnesota’s governor will speak at 9 a.m. Monday and there will be a presentation related to Occupy Wall Street movement at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The event launched on Monday and can see excerpts on the association’s UStream Channel, which is also running live the rest of the week.
