A startup that’s developed a mobile app to support in-the-field workers has upped its initial funding round to $500,000.
Cleveland-based Intelligent Mobile Support has just received a $250,000 investment from local angel group North Coast Angel Fund. Intelligent Mobile Support (IMS) had previously received funding from Cleveland groups JumpStart and LaunchHouse, according to a statement from the company.

IMS aims to sell its software to healthcare companies that have mobile workforces, such as medical equipment servicing companies and home healthcare providers.

IMS’ software is used to connect remote workers’ mobile phones and tablets to experts and product-documentation guides. It features quizzes to test workers’ knowledge of key subjects and a social networking-like feature that allows users to rate, tag and comment on the effectiveness of training materials.
The company has “created a way for clients to capture and share tribal knowledge — the kind not contained in manuals,” said Todd Federman, executive director of North Coast Angel Fund.
